Who should take this course

  • You are a Salesforce administrator, in charge of making Salesforce work correctly for your organization

  • You have at least a little bit of experience working with fields and objects. You don’t have to be a pro, but it shouldn’t be your first time clicking the gear icon in this class.

What you’ll learn

  • How to work with the formula editor and the types of formula fields you can work with

  • Examples of the most common reasons to use formulas in Salesforce, and their limitations

  • Get hands-on with creating formulas for common uses, such as case-safe IDs, working with dates, and displaying data from other objects

  • Get hands-on with more advanced formulas that can assist with YTD, Year-on-year, and other comparisons that are otherwise difficult in Salesforce

  • When and how to use roll-ups

What to expect from this course

  • Each course is 90 minutes, online, taught by an experienced Salesforce consultant who has hands-on experience managing Salesforce for nonprofits across many organizations

  • You will receive a Zoom link prior to the course you’re registered for

  • You must have access to add and edit fields in your Salesforce to be able to get hands-on with these examples, so you should probably be a systems administrator

  • If you’re new to Salesforce, please review the course description for The Basics first. Make sure all of that feels pretty comfortable before taking this course.

  • This is a very hands-on course. You will be working in a sandbox version of your real Salesforce. You will be sent instructions prior to the course in setting up a sandbox.

  • Ideally you will come into this course with real changes you need to make and can make them during the course while getting support. We will provide an example of a common use cases for everything we cover.
