Products

Our sister company Human Centered Apps (HCA) transforms the patterns and problems we’ve seen and turns them into products. HCA is a Salesforce® ISV partner and RollCall is listed on the AppExchange, so you know that you are getting real, established software from a team that’s been around since 2015.

Although Deep Why and HCA are sister companies, we love to share these tools with other Salesforce solutions providers - just get in touch and explore partnering!

RollCall

  • RollCall for attendance tracking in Salesforce.

RollCall takes the pain out of managing participants who attend multiple sessions in a course sequence. It does the date math for you, creating your records automatically in Salesforce® and presents a friendly, easy-to-use calendar interface for teachers or volunteers.

  • We built RollCall to solve attendance tracking problems for our adult education clients, and that is still its core use today. BEST, Operation ABLE, Families First, JFSMW, and many others use it this way.

Sometimes we install it behind the scenes when we need a powerful date engine and to link up people with repeating events, but don’t necessarily need the user interface. We use it this way in Your Market to handle home deliveries and scheduled appointments and 2Life to handle events for volunteer signups and resident services supports.

  • RollCall is an AppExchange product. There is an annual license fee that allows us to devote programming time to its upkeep and maintenance.

Nonprofit and education RollCall clients pay a flat rate of $1000 per year. This fee covers upgrades and support for routine RollCall issues.

Customizations built off of RollCall - such as Flows that extend RollCall in a manner outside of what the product was designed to do — is provided through Deep Why’s office hours at our hourly billable rate.

Framework

  • Sometimes your users just need an experience that does things Salesforce® will never do without custom code. And fully custom code is too expensive to build and maintain for small and midsized nonprofits.

Framework is a Salesforce®-native tool that lets even accidental admins build and maintain user-friendly screens with more functionality than even Screen Flows offer, with no code required.

Framework has been around since 2016.

  • Deep Why uses Framework for all of our custom projects that require more than Salesforce®-native tools can handle, but where client admins still need to be able to manage and update the screens over time.

Custom code is expensive and hard to maintain. Framework exists to sit between where Screen Flows end and custom Lightning Web Components would pick up, as an affordable alternative for the nonprofit sector.

Using Framework lets us deliver the equivalent of a fully custom coded solution for less than 1/10th the cost and time.

Many of our portfolio clients feature Framework. View examples in the Framework gallery or contact us for a tour.

  • Framework has an annual license fee of $5000.

It is a flat, per-org fee. You can build as many apps and screens and have as many users as you want, whether internal or via an Experience Cloud.

Because Framework is the tool we use to create custom applications, there will be a custom implementation required to set up for your unique needs. This is where DWD comes in, working with you to specify and design your solution and helping you implement it.

These project costs will vary based on your needs, and we work hard to make them affordable for even smaller and mid-sized nonprofits.

aNote

  • Backed by Framework, aNote is a breakthrough in user interface. Line staff just type their notes in and tag them in whatever way makes sense for your program delivery, and aNote does the hard work of putting structured data where it belongs for reporting.

aNote is fully customizable to capture any data you need, into any data structure that helps your reporting.

aNote is new in 2023, but it’s a part of Framework, which has been around since 2016 and is a mature, stable, and widely-deployed product.

  • The Institute for Justice and Opportunity uses aNote to ensure they are capturing reportable data against their complex multi-services program delivery. Switching from a traditional form-based approach to aNote helped The Institute move from a 20% compliance rate for data capture to over 80% compliance, just by making it easier for their staff.

Our pioneering client BEST is using aNote to capture barriers and service plans directly from the case notes and is set to deploy all of its service logging in aNote over the summer.

Whenever we have a direct services / notes-heavy program that we’re supporting, aNote comes to the top of our mental list as an option to explore.

  • aNote comes with Framework, so it is the same cost whether you are rolling out an aNote project, a Framework project, or both.

There is a flat annual fee of $5000. Deploy as many apps, screens, or to as many users as you like for this price.

As with Framework, there will be a custom implementation required to set up for your unique needs. This is where DWD comes in, working with you to specify and design your solution and helping you implement it.

These project costs will vary based on your needs, and we work hard to make them affordable for even smaller and mid-sized nonprofits.
