Toolkit: Capacity

Capacity has many different meanings in the social sector, and quite a lot of collective wisdom has been built up about strategic capacity — that is, the overall capability of leadership to ensure the ongoing health and stability of the organization, and guide adaptive changes over time. As an operations firm, we focus equally on operational capacity — that is, the constraints and opportunities provided by the budget, time, and energy available to deliver services and get work done. Aligning these two different types of thinking about capacity results in effective, focused organizations that consistently provide high quality service to their constituents.
